Anger is Bad

Anger is bad

Once upon a time, there lived two brothers Thongjam and Thungjam in a village named Okaba. One day the elder brother Thongjam became angry with the younger brother Thungjam because Thungjam had broken the only bucket they had. In anger Thongjam swung the broken bucket towards Thungjam. Thungjam was severely hit by the bucket on his head and started bleeding. But Thongjam did not pay the slightest attention to the younger brother. The younger brother Thungjam started crying and went out of the house and went on and on out of village. Thungjam continued on his travel without thinking about his elder brother because he was angry with his elder brother for hitting him so severely. Continuously travelling Thungjam reached a town. Now he was hungry and was remembering his elder brother for getting something from him to eat. But his brother was nowhere to be found. Now he realised that he had come to a very far place. He went to a person sitting in a shop and asked him something to eat. The person said to him that he could give Thungjam food to eat if Thungjam helped him in shop related works. Thungjam assented. Thus Thungjam became a servant of a business man. The business man was very happy with honesty and laborious nature of Thungjam. Thungjam grew into a well mannered humorous young man. The business man selected a beautiful girl for him and arranged their marriage. Once the business man planned to go back to his native town and settle there. So he made Thungjam the owner of his business of that town. Thungjam was now a very happy and respectable person of the society.
Thungjam and his wife in due course of time had a son. When the son grew to the age of five years, they planned to get him admitted in a school. There was a custom that when a child became of the age to be able to go to school, the parents of the child used to organise a feast in which all the close relatives were to be invited. Thungjam's wife invited her parents for the feast and asked Thungjam also to invite his relatives. Thungjam sent messengers to invite his mentor, the businessman. Then he remembered his brother, Thongjam. Thungjam felt very sorry that he never missed his elder brother, Thongjam. So he decided to invite his elder brother too to the feast. He set forth for the journey to the village of Okaba. After reaching there he found that his brother Thongjam was not to be found. His house was in a very dilapidated condition. He found out from his neighbours that Thongjam was very sorry for his anger after Thungjam left the village. So Thongjam went out of the village in search of Thungjam and since then he never returned. Thungjam got his house repaired and came back to the town. He was very sorry and missed his elder brother very badly.
Time went by. Thungjam grew a little old. His son Mapit was now a young man and helped him in his business. One day Thungjam's son Mapit came with another young man Thouba and informed Thungjam that Thouba was his friend. Mapit asked a job for Thouba at their shop. Thungjam acceded to it. So Thouba started working in their shop. One day Mapit incurred a great loss in the business due to his foolishness. So Thungjam became very angry and scolded Mapit very severely. In the same evening Mapit disclosed to Thouba that he was very angry with his father and he would not work with his father and would go away far to start his own business. Listening this Thouba said to Mapit that it was not good for Mapit to leave his father and go away out of anger. Anger is a very bad thing. Thungjam overheard Thouba speaking this. He was amazed with the wit of the young man Thouba. So he called Thouba and asked him who had made him learn such good things. Thouba informed Thungjam that this was his father who had made him learn that anger was a very bad thing because his father had lost his younger brother because of anger. Listening this Thungjam suspected whether Thouba's father was his elder brother Thongjam. So he asked Thouba to take him to his father. And Wow! Thungjam was amazed to see his elder brother Thongjam. Both the brothers hugged each other and cried out of happiness. The two families rejoiced with the union and the young men Mapit and Thouba had learnt a lesson for life.

  1. Anger is a toxin that slowly but surely kills us from within.
